In a show of solidarity, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, has expressed his support for Palestine on Instagram amidst the ongoing Israel-Gaza war. The Sheikh shared a tribute featuring an image of the Dome of the Rock in the Old City of Jerusalem, with the Palestinian flag incorporated within a cut-out map of Palestine.
Accompanying the picture, Sheikh Hamdan wrote, “Palestine. Oh God, help and support them.”
This gesture comes just a day after President Sheikh Mohamed reiterated calls for an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza during a Cairo summit for peace. Sheikh Mohamed, who was joined by other heads of states, made his appeal on the social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the need to urgently address the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking about the summit, Sheikh Mohamed stated, “Today, I attended the Cairo Peace Summit, where the UAE joined its international partners to urgently address the situation in the Gaza Strip. The UAE stands resolute in its advocacy for the protection of civilian lives, unhindered access to humanitarian aid, and an immediate cessation of hostilities.”
He further emphasized the importance of international collaboration in order to prevent further violence and instability. Sheikh Mohamed added, “Dialogue, cooperation, and coexistence remain the only viable paths to peace.”
Meanwhile, more than 10,000 volunteers across the UAE have rallied together to pack relief aid for the people of Gaza as part of the Compassion for Gaza campaign. Donation centers located in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah collected over 550 tonnes of food and medical supplies, demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause.
These donation centers were established by the Emirates Crescent Authority, the World Food Programme, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Community Development.
