News: ‘Picasso Days’ launched by Dubai’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Library

Dubai’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is hosting a week-long event called Picasso Days to commemorate the birthday of renowned artist Pablo Picasso. The event, inaugurated by Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, aims to showcase the artistic legacy of Picasso. As part of the library’s monthly ‘Library Days’ programme, Picasso Days brings together experts, artists, and scholars to celebrate prominent figures in the art world.

Featuring over 50 works of art by visual artists, inspired by Picasso’s abstract art style, the event has received an enthusiastic response from the public and artists alike. On the first day, attendees were treated to a lecture titled “Psychological Dimensions in Picasso’s Paintings” at the library’s theatre. During the lecture, speakers Abdul-Jabbar Wais, Mona Al Jabali, and Ali Al Abdan provided insights into Picasso’s life and artistic phases, as well as the significance of line work in his paintings.

In addition to the lecture, Picasso Days also offered an abstract art workshop called “Faces From the World of Picasso.” This workshop aimed to enhance participants’ artistic skills and provide them with an opportunity to explore the world of abstract art and its various styles and techniques.

The event has received accolades from attendees, who appreciate the extensive efforts made by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library in supporting art and artists. By highlighting the significant influence of art on society and introducing new generations to the legacies of creative individuals, the library plays a vital role in fostering creativity and promoting cultural heritage.
