Sheikh Hamdan shares video homage to Sheikh Zayed, the UAE’s Founding Father.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, paid homage to the late UAE Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in a heartfelt post on social media. Shared on Wednesday, the post includes a touching video featuring a young Sheikh Hamdan being embraced by Sheikh Zayed. The caption reads, “May God have mercy on the one who served as the most exemplary father, leader, and educator for his people.”

This tribute holds significance as November 2 marks the 19th anniversary of Sheikh Zayed’s passing in the Gregorian calendar. Traditionally, his death is commemorated on the 19th day of Ramadan, which coincided with November 2, 2004. This year, the 19th day of Ramadan fell on April 10.

Highlighting Sheikh Zayed’s philanthropic vision, the 19th day of Ramadan is also observed as Zayed Humanitarian Day. On this occasion, leaders and government officials express their admiration for Sheikh Zayed’s charitable endeavors, which have had a lasting impact on generations of Emiratis. Notably, the Abu Dhabi Development Fund was established in 1971 and the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation in 1992 under Sheikh Zayed’s leadership.

During his 33-year presidency, the UAE, under Sheikh Zayed’s guidance, provided aid amounting to Dh90.5 billion (approximately $24.64 billion) to over 100 nations. Moreover, Sheikh Zayed’s environmental legacy thrives through initiatives like the Zayed Sustainability Prize, which aims to combat climate change and support vulnerable communities worldwide.

It is encouraging to see the remembrance of Sheikh Zayed’s remarkable contributions and the continued impact he has on the nation. His humanitarian vision serves as a guiding light for the UAE and inspires the pursuit of a brighter future.
