Dubai Police Crack Down on Dangerous Driving During Rainy Weather

Dubai Police have taken stern action against dangerous driving during the recent rainy weather, confiscating a total of 24 vehicles and motorcycles. The offenders were found to be engaging in hazardous and reckless traffic behavior in the Al Rowaiyah area, which included disturbing the peace.

Maj Gen Saif Al Mazroui, director of Dubai Police’s traffic department, expressed his disappointment saying, “Despite previous warnings and general advice given during the inclement weather, these motorists defied traffic rules, leading to the seizure of their vehicles.” Out of the confiscated vehicles, 19 were cars and 5 were motorcycles, and the drivers responsible were issued 35 severe penalties.

The penalties for such offenses can involve fines, black points on the driver’s license, or both. Furthermore, the offenders were not only fined but also referred to traffic prosecutors for further legal action.

To effectively tackle this issue, Dubai Police increased the presence of traffic patrols in the area during the poor weather conditions. This crackdown aims to create a safer driving environment and discourage dangerous driving practices.

The repercussions of such violations can be significant, as the cost to release a seized vehicle can reach up to Dh50,000. Moreover, the duration of confiscation varies based on the severity of the offense.

Motorists are urged to prioritize road safety and adhere to traffic regulations, especially during challenging weather conditions. By doing so, they can avoid penalties and contribute to enhancing road safety for themselves and others.
