Dubai Police implement security initiatives targeting residential area thefts

Dubai Police Launch New Security Projects to Combat Crimes

In an effort to tackle crimes such as theft and assault in residential and retail areas, Dubai Police have introduced several new security projects that utilize advanced technology and artificial intelligence.

These projects aim to streamline operations, save time and resources, and enhance overall security in the emirate. Residential communities, construction sites, money transfer companies, and Dubai’s Gold Souk were identified as particularly vulnerable to crime, prompting the reinforcement of security measures in those areas.

For example, break-resistance glass panels, impenetrable locks and mandatory iron doors have been installed at Dubai’s Gold Souk. Similar locks have been made obligatory in warehouses, contributing to zero recorded crimes in warehouses. Project efforts aimed to combat crimes such as theft, assault, and related offenses have been effective in addressing and resolving identified vulnerabilities.

One project focusing on residential complexes made it mandatory for developers to install surveillance cameras linked to police control rooms and security patrols. Another project involves coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure that gardeners are licensed and have valid working visas. Initiatives have also evolved to include civilian volunteers in gathering community information for police.

As part of the new projects, other effective solutions have included the Smart Home Project, which encourages homeowners to install sensors and cameras, tamper-proof bags for money transfer companies, and enhanced security measures for internet stations.

According to Colonel Aref Ali Bishoh, Director of Dubai Police’s Crime Prevention Department, the new projects have made a significant impact on reducing crime rates and enhancing overall security in vulnerable areas across Dubai. These efforts reflect a joint commitment to ensuring safety and security throughout the emirate.
