Emphasizing the importance of aiding Gazans affected by war, volunteers in the UAE lend support

UAE volunteers attend Compassion for Gaza campaign in Abu Dhabi

Thousands of volunteers gathered at Mina Zayed port in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to participate in the Compassion for Gaza campaign. This event was part of a larger initiative to send urgent relief packages to Gaza. The campaign has already sent over 60,000 relief packages to the region.

Among the volunteers was Abdulla Hamada, who tragically lost his sister, brother-in-law, and their four children in a recent bombing in Gaza. Despite his personal loss, Hamada expressed gratitude for the initiative, saying “Initiatives like this make it feel like there is still good in the world.”

The campaign has gathered support from people of various nationalities, including 18-year-old Hugh Richards from the US, who is studying at NYU Abu Dhabi. This diverse support underscores the global impact of the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

Families also joined in the effort, with parents bringing their children to show them the importance of volunteering and helping others. Saleh Abdullah from India brought his three children, conveying the importance of teaching his kids about the value of giving back.

The campaign is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority and the World Food Programme, with the support of the Ministry of Community Development.

Additionally, the UAE is working to set up a fully equipped field hospital in Gaza to aid the growing number of casualties. The hospital is part of the Gallant Knight 3 humanitarian operation, and its construction is already underway.

The Compassion for Gaza drive will continue and is calling on volunteers to stay updated through the campaign’s social media channels for ongoing opportunities to contribute. The outpouring of support from the UAE and beyond demonstrates the global community’s commitment to providing relief and assistance to those affected by the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
