GCC-Asean summit witnesses the arrival of President Sheikh Mohamed in Riyadh

President Sheikh Mohamed arrived in Riyadh on Friday to participate in a joint summit of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) and the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN). The UAE leader was warmly received by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at King Khalid International Airport.

President Sheikh Mohamed is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed (Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi), Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Sheikh Nahyan Al Nahyan (UAE ambassador to Saudi Arabia), Dr Anwar Gargash (Diplomatic Adviser to the President), and Ali Al Shamsi (Secretary General of the Supreme Council for National Security).

The purpose of the joint summit, which commenced on Friday, is to strengthen the ties between GCC countries and ASEAN member states. The GCC comprises the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, while ASEAN consists of 10 member states, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, and the Philippines.
