The American Hospital Dubai has officially launched its sustainability policy in line with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability. This policy is a structured governance and impact initiative focused on carbon footprint reduction, signifying the hospital’s commitment to sustainable practices.

The policy integrates performance, measurability, and accountability to position the hospital as a leading healthcare model in the region for carbon reduction. It also embodies the hospital’s dedication to maximizing resource usage and lifecycle, innovation of sustainable solutions, and empowering employees as active policy practitioners.

The first phase of the initiative addresses Scope 1 and 2, encompassing direct CO2 emissions, indirect energy usage, and emissions beyond the value chain. The hospital’s mission is to achieve significant environmental footprint reduction by measuring CO2 emissions and enhancing community welfare.

In embracing sustainable practices, the hospital has adopted various measures such as energy savings through LED lighting, efforts to increase plantation footprint, eco-friendly building materials, and environmentally friendly cleaning solutions. It is also transitioning to a 100% paperless environment and gradually reducing plastic use.

Sherif Beshara, the group CEO of American Hospital, expressed his pride in the hospital’s sustainable policy, emphasizing their commitment to integrating sustainability with their mission, vision, and values.
