Passenger Arrested at Dubai Airport for Attempted Drug Smuggling

Dubai Customs officers have apprehended a passenger at Dubai International Airport on suspicion of trying to smuggle more than 400 grams of illegal drugs into the UAE. The discovery was made when the man’s baggage underwent scanning, which reportedly revealed suspicious substances inside, according to Dubai Customs.

The identity of the suspect, who had arrived from a European country, has not been disclosed. Growing suspicious, one of the officers decided to inspect the passenger’s bags and discovered almost 300 hallucinogenic pills. Additionally, Dubai Customs seized 13.8 grams of hallucinogenic powder, 7.4 grams of crack cocaine, and 275 grams of crystal meth.

Khaled Ahmed, the acting director of the passenger operations department at Dubai Customs, issued a warning to anyone planning to smuggle drugs through the airport. He emphasized that officers are well-prepared and dedicated to thwarting such attempts. Ahmed stated, “Multiple departments cooperated to expose the European traveler’s deceptions, closely monitoring and inspecting his luggage to uncover the various concealed substances. Our officers are vigilant and ready to foil drug smuggling into the UAE.”

The European man is now facing legal prosecution for his alleged involvement in drug smuggling. Ahmed highlighted the high level of expertise among Dubai Customs personnel and the implementation of state-of-the-art inspection and scanning devices at airports and customs ports throughout Dubai.

Dubai Customs remains committed to maintaining the safety and security of the UAE by combating drug trafficking. The successful seizure serves as a reminder that smuggling illegal substances into the country will not go unpunished.
