Organizers of Cop28 highlight the importance of utilizing Dubai Metro as tens of thousands are expected to attend.

As Cop28 at Expo City gets underway, organizers are strongly advising attendees to utilize public transportation to access the venue. The Dubai Metro is being recommended as the most efficient and environmentally sustainable way to travel to and from the conference site. In preparation for heightened security measures during the first three days of Cop28, certain roads near Expo City will be closed, and visitors may experience last-minute changes to road access or closures throughout the event.

The Red Line of the Dubai Metro provides direct access to Expo City, linking the venue to Dubai International Airport and major hotels in the city. To accommodate the influx of attendees, the operational hours of the Dubai Metro will be extended by one hour, running from 5am to 1am during the event. Additionally, shuttle buses will transport visitors from the Metro station to the Green Zone arrival plazas from 8am until midnight.

During Cop28, more than 10,000 eco-friendly Dubai Taxis will be available at Expo City through the Hala Taxi platform. Other ride-hailing services, such as Uber, Careem, and Yango, will also be operational. Taxis will pick up passengers from four designated ranks – Opportunity Gate, Mobility Gate, Sustainability Gate, and the Metro Gate.

Expo City will be divided into Blue and Green Zones. The Blue Zone, which is managed by the UN, will be accessible to heads of state, accredited government officials, and media during Cop28. Various parking options are available for visitors to both the Blue and Green Zones, with shuttle services operating from all car parks.

Attendees in the Blue Zone are encouraged to use the Dubai Metro and the Metro Park and Ride located at select stations due to limited car parking spaces. Public transport will be offered free of charge throughout the event for Blue Zone delegates, and a shuttle service will operate after metro hours. Shuttles will also run from Abu Dhabi International Airport to Expo City during specific time frames.

The Green Zone, open to the public from December 3 to 12, will feature a variety of attractions, and visitors will be transported from the metro station to the Green Zone arrival plazas via shuttle buses. Access to the Green Zone requires a free pass, which can be booked on the Cop28 website.

Overall, organizers are anticipating up to 70,000 visitors per day in the Green Zone, with a range of activities, performances, and events planned. With the myriad of transportation options and convenient access points, Cop28 attendees can look forward to a seamless and sustainable experience.
