President Sheikh Mohamed and Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi led the nation in celebrating UAE Flag Day on Friday. The ceremony took place at Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi, where the President proudly raised the national flag alongside Al Neyadi, who recently returned from a six-month mission aboard the International Space Station. Observed on November 3 each year, Flag Day commemorates the accession of the late Sheikh Khalifa as President of the UAE in 2004.
In a statement on X, President Sheikh Mohamed expressed the unity and loyalty symbolized by the UAE flag. He also expressed his confidence in the next generation’s ability to create a brighter future. Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid marked the occasion with a social media message and a video highlighting Emirati achievements. Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed emphasized the importance of Flag Day, describing it as a treasured national occasion that reflects the country’s values of unity and cohesion.
Various leaders and officials across the UAE also celebrated Flag Day. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed raised the UAE flag at the memorial site for armed forces members at Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, stated that the flag embodies the strength and affinity of the UAE, calling it a source of pride for citizens. Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed emphasized the flag’s significance and the accomplishments of the UAE’s people. Ahmad Al Falasi, the Minister of Education, spoke about the commitment to the UAE’s values and the country’s development under the leadership’s vision.
Flag Day was also celebrated in schools across the country. Students wore national attire or the colors of the UAE flag while participating in flag-raising ceremonies and assemblies. Private schools like Jumeira Baccalaureate School and British International School Abu Dhabi organized events to promote a sense of patriotism and celebrate the Emirati flag. These efforts were recognized by the Department of Education and Knowledge, which rated eight private schools outstanding for promoting national identity.
